Garth Prowd OAM Under 23 Triathlete Award
The Garth Prowd Under 23 Triathlete Award has been created in partnership with Noosa Triathlon and the Prowd family to remember Garth Prowd OAM, the man affectionately known as the 'Godfather' of Australian triathlon, a pioneer of sport tourism in Queensland and passionate athlete advocate. We will remember his incredible life and his contribution to Australian sport. He was a man who revolutionised triathlon, running and cycling events in Australia, who was himself an enthusiastic sportsman.
The Garth Prowd Under 23 Triathlete Award aims to recognise and support our next up and coming Olympic medallists. Garth was passionate about supporting young athletes develop their athletic ability and also their business acumen at the outset of their young careers.
To be eligible for The Garth Prowd Under 23 Triathlete Award athletes will be:
- Aged between 15-23 (Age as at 31/12/2024)
- Racing in either the Elite or Open Age Group Category at Noosa Triathlon
- Representing Australia
The Garth Prowd Under 23 Triathlete Award will be awarded to the male and female eligible athlete who has the fastest race result at that years Noosa Triathlon.
The successful athlete will receive:
- $1000 prize money
- Complimentary entry to the following years Noosa Triathlon
- $270 ASICS Voucher
The Garth Prowd Under 23 Triathlete Award winners will be awarded at the Noosa Triathlon Presentations, Sunday 3 November 2024, 4:00pm.
