Noosa Turns Pink For ASICS Noosa Breakfast Fun Run In Support Of The McGrath Foundation

The sands of Noosa Main Beach turned pink on Friday morning with more than 1,500 runners taking part in the annual ASICS Noosa Breakfast Fun Run, supporting the McGrath Foundation.

Runners took to the 5km course in fancy dress, with every shade of pink imaginable on display, with hundreds of school children included in the crowd making their way along the beach.

The event raised funds for the McGrath Foundation, supporting the incredible work the Foundation does through its McGrath Breast Care Nurses, with a number of nurses taking part in the run.

McGrath Foundation Co-Founder and President, Glenn McGrath, said that the event was a great one to be involved in.

“What a perfect day up here in Noosa and to see so many people out, and so many kids out exercising and supporting a great cause and enjoying themselves is great and what it’s all about,” he said. “The support for the Foundation has been absolutely incredible, without events like this we can’t do what we do, I see it everyday, people coming out, making an effort, raising money, doing something special and supporting a cause like the McGrath Foundation makes me very proud.

“To see a sea of pink up here in Noosa is always unique,” said McGrath. “I moved up to the area nearly 12 months ago and I want to get in and support the local community, and this is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, triathlon events in the world and to see people up here supporting it is absolutely incredible.”

Geoff Meyer, Managing Director of The IRONMAN Group Oceania, said that the ASICS Noosa Breakfast Fun Run continues to be incredibly popular.

“We love seeing the sea of pink make its way along the beach here in Noosa and it was great to be able to support the incredible work that the McGrath Foundation does this morning,” said Meyer. “Every year the costumes get brighter and more outlandish and today was no different, it was great to see so many people embrace the theme of the morning and get involved.

Noosa Triathlon is supported by the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland, and is a feature on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.
