FESTIVAL EVENTS BRING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO THE NOOSA TRIATHLON

29 October 2021

The Noosa community has thrown its support behind Friday’s Noosa Triathlon Festival Events, with more than 2,000 people taking part in cycling, running and swimming events.

The morning kicked off with the Tour De Noosa – Garth Prowd Ride, which saw participants take part in a relaxed 28km ride along part of the Noosa Triathlon bike course. Proceeds from the ride go towards the Garth Prowd OAM Triathlon Scholarship which supports rising stars on the triathlon circuit to reach their full potential.

More than 1,300 runners then turned Noosa Main Beach pink for the ASICS Noosa Breakfast Fun Run, raising much needed funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The 5km course saw the pink clad runners and walkers start on the beach in front of Noosa Heads Surf Club, head out to the National Park before returning along the boardwalk to Noosa Main Beach. The course then headed out to the river mouth before returning along the sand to the Surf Club.

Friday’s schedule of events was rounded out by the 2XU Noosa 1000 Ocean Swim, with over 700 swimmers taking on a 1km ocean swim starting and finishing at Noosa Main Beach.

Geoff Meyer, Managing Director of The IRONMAN Group Oceania, said that it was great to see so many people out enjoying the event on Friday.

“The Festival Events are a major part of the Noosa Triathlon and we were thrilled to see people get behind them today,” said Meyer. “These events provide an ideal opportunity for the local community to get involved in the Noosa Triathlon and it was great to have people of all ages and abilities out and about.

“One of the highlights of the day was the ASICS Noosa Breakfast Fun Run, it was incredible to see more than 1,300 runners in pink streaming along Noosa Main Beach, the perfect way to kick off the day,” he said.

The Noosa Triathlon Festival Events continue on Saturday morning, with the Noosa Superkidz and TINGIRANA Noosa Special Triathlon both taking place at Chaplain Park, Noosaville. Entries are still available for both events, with participants able to sign up at the venue on Saturday morning from 6.00am.

Noosa Triathlon is supported by the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland, and is a feature on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.
